My camera system runs on a Beelink mini PC with Debian and Docker. Frigate handles the NVR side with Reolink cameras, and Home Assistant ties it into the rest of the house.
Why a mini PC
It is small, quiet, and cheap to run all day, which is what you want from a box that never turns off.
Why Docker
Frigate and Home Assistant each get their own container, so I can update or roll back one without touching the other.
Write it down
I documented the whole build in a 25-page PDF guide. Future me is the main reader. A homelab you cannot rebuild from notes is one bad disk away from being gone.
